Packing Checklist for First-Time Safari and Beach Travellers
Packing for a combined safari and beach trip means dressing for two very different environments — dusty, neutral-toned game drives and relaxed beach days — often within the same suitcase, and frequently on a light-aircraft flight with strict weight limits. See our complete safari packing list and safari and beach packing guide for the full detail.
Safari Clothing
Neutral colours — khaki, olive, tan — are standard for game drives, since bright colours and pure white or black can be more visible to wildlife and attract insects. Layers matter more than heavy items: early morning drives can be genuinely cold, warming up quickly once the sun is up.
Beach Essentials
Lightweight, breathable clothing, swimwear, a good hat and reef-safe sunscreen cover most beach days. If your trip includes snorkelling or diving, check whether your resort provides gear or whether you'll need to bring or rent your own.
Weight Limits on Light Aircraft
Many parks, particularly more remote ones like Kidepo or the Serengeti's smaller airstrips, are reached by light aircraft with strict baggage limits, often around 15kg in a soft-sided bag. We'll confirm the exact limit for your specific itinerary well before you travel.
Essentials Not to Forget
Binoculars, a portable charger, any prescription medication in original packaging, and a printed or downloaded copy of key travel documents in case of connectivity issues in remote areas.
